So last year, our youngest son, William wanted to take a hip-hop dance class. He's quite the dancer (takes after his mom) lol. The studio in Rancho Cucamonga, Valverde School of Performing Arts, had a pee wee hip-hop class, but it was full. Ms. Janice, in the office, recommended he try the Musical Theater class. One session and he was hooked! They did their spring showcase titled "The Wonderful World Of..." and all the classes danced to different Disney songs. It was great! Williams' class did a medley of songs from Aladdin.
After moving in November, I started looking for something similar near where we now lived. I came across Actors West. Although it wasn’t a dance studio, it did offer acting workshops for kids and adults. William began telling me he wanted to be in a movie so I signed him up for his first workshop. I wasn’t sure how he’d do. It was 3 hrs, no parents, and a room full of kids and a casting director he didn’t know. He loved it! He took one more workshop where we met our manager, Cinda Snow.
Cinda had observed the workshop and saw William. We talked briefly afterwards, and a few days later she met with William, my husband, and I at Mel’s Diner. We were very impressed with her and decided to give it a shot. Since then, William has been on several auditions for everything from national commercials to major movies. He’s even had a few call backs and is excited to book his first professional acting job.
Now, all of this has led up to the next part of the story!
