Apartment living ~ Not exactly what I had in mind, but we manage. We've only been living in apartments for less than 2 years now. We moved into our current complex about 4 days before Christmas last year. It was great...at first. Brand new, quite empty, clean, and quiet. Then, due to the economy, they reduced the prices 40%! Great for all the new people that moved in. Not so great for us! Now the office is up to their eyeballs in complaints with all the trouble that's moved in. So they finally broke down and hired a night guard. Yay! Or not...
Yesterday, my husband left our apartment at 5:15 am to go to school only to discover that our truck was MISSING! At first we thought it had been stolen, but then he realized he didn't remember hanging the handicap placard (we have for our son) up in the window. I called the security office and they confirmed that it had been towed. $272 and one missed class later, we got our truck back.
Later that evening, we were rudely interrupted not once, but twice within 20 mins. by some kids "Ding dong ditching" our apartment. It's been happening more frequently, and after the one at 2 am a few weeks ago, we weren't very happy with it. Unfortunately for the accomplices, my husband was not too far from the door the second time! Much to the shock of the two boys outside, my husband caught up with them around back. It was funny when he came in with a big smile and said "Those boys didn't think this big, white guy was so fast! They know now!". He took them to their parents and explained what was going on. Hopefully, it won't happen anymore!
We've had a few other experiences here too, but I'll save those for another time. For now, when there are days like yesterday, I just rely on the comfort and tranquility of my big, round, luxurious bath tub to whisk me away on a bubble sea. As we go about our days here in the apartment, learning the lessons of swimming through life, I take solice in knowing that it's temporary, and very soon, we will once again be back in the peaceful calm of a house.
